    Come and join your professional colleagues as we review the status of Service Management in Alberta and how it is about to get reinvented yet again.

    Ask any CIO or CTO what IT Service Management represents, and chances are that you get a wide variety of very different answers. It is often defined by perceptions created by ITIL and partially by a general lack of vision to digitise the business of digitization (yes, you read that right). Mystical powers are somehow bestowed on IT Leadership to just have what it takes to run IT like a business, yet evidence shows that many organisations are still struggling to demonstrate the value of Service Management in the digital transformation journey.

    In this engaging breakfast session hosted by Stijn Oomen, we will take a hard look at Service Management in Alberta and how exponential change in technology and new emerging business models are again redefining the meaning of it to drive consumer value.

    This dynamic huddle will start with reviewing the recent itSMF Alberta survey results and briefly evaluate some new ‘tools on the block’ created by industry experts. We will than have some engaging dialogue to compare notes and learn from each others situation. The session will wrap up with the unveiling of the itSMF 2020 event schedule with suggested event topics to gather your feedback.

      As the world makes the critical advancement away from IT service management (ITSM) to enterprise service management (ESM), there are some fundamental things that can drive successful adoption for your organization.   

      When not in a Boardroom talking to clients about IT risks or on a plane travelling; Lou spends his time available time working with the Boards of Football Canada and Football Nova Scotia or actively on a gridiron as a coach at both the High School and Provincial levels.    His proudest achievements are developing future leaders through sport, a collection of Provincial titles, and a roster of clients that others would trade future draft picks to even talk to.  

      During the session the Lou will leverage his 35+ year passion of football and the lessons it has taught him about how to drive success in transitioning from ITSM to ESM. This isn’t a deep dive on the fundamentals of ‘X’ and ‘O’s but will cover some interesting topics such as focusing on gaming fundamentals, recognizing what you’re good at and where the team has special talents, the importance of coaching and recruiting, adaptability and responsiveness and how to rally a bunch of individuals to the single goal of playing to win.  

      This lively discussion will leave you with a better understanding of what to tackle next in your ESM journey and what us coaches really think about when preparing for battle.

      Background

      Louie Velocci is the KPMG National Lead Partner in the ServiceNow Advisory services practice and Office Managing Partner for the KPMG Halifax office. He is a highly qualified

      senior business leader with cross functional and cross industry experience. He leverages his 20+ years of experience to help our largest client’s CIOs, CTOs, CISOs and senior management teams to:

      • align their IT service delivery approach and frameworks with the strategic business imperatives of their organization
      • provided pragmatic solutions to IT and business risk mitigation
      • help Boards and Management understand the risks and impacts of emerging technologies to the organization
      • mentor and coach emerging leaders
      • develop strategies with clients during the last 6 years on over $5B worth of IT delivery and transformational projects.

      Louie has developed considerable thought leadership on the topics of cloud computing, shared service and control alignment, IT transformation, critical infrastructure design and protection

      Louie continues to work with IT standards bodies and has been involved with Industry Canada’s initiatives on Cloud Computing. This roundtable council is currently examining the role that the public and private sectors will need to play in the wide spread adoption of cloud computing in Canada. It is examining infrastructure, controls, requirements for regulation, legal and resource considerations.

      Louie works with the firms largest IT transactions from both a financial and IT operational perspective leveraging his hands on experience in IT operations, accounting and financial modelling.

      Previously Louie led a large global consulting firm’s IT Security and Forensic practice in Canada. He has hands on experience leading and executing IT risk assessment projects and third party outsourcing organizations engagements on both national and international levels.

      Louie also works with organizations in the financial, insurance, transportation and telecommunications industries to examine global issues which may impact these industries. Additionally he holds a Government of Canada Level II Security Clearance which allows him to work on highly sensitive projects involving the Canadian Government or organizations deemed ‘Critical Infrastructure’ of Canada.

      The Royal Ottawa Operational Stress Injury (OSI) Clinic is a specialized outpatient program serving Canadian Forces Veterans and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Operational Stress Injury is best described as any persistent psychological difficulty resulting from operational duties performed while serving in the Canadian Forces or as a member of the RCMP. Difficulties may occur during combat duties, after serving in a war zone, in peacekeeping missions, or following other traumatic or serious events not specific to combat.

      Common OSIs include, but are not limited to, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), other anxiety disorders, depression, substance use disorders and other conditions that may interfere with daily functioning.  The Royal’s OSI Clinic is part of the Anxiety Disorders Program. The clinic also belongs to a national network of OSI clinics funded by Veterans Affairs Canada.
