He first successfully used ITIL's 'best practice' advice in 1989, when he was responsible for the UK Army's logistics computing. OGC and ITGI announced a joint publication which describes the roles of the CobiT, ITIL and the ISO 17799 security management standard, and the interfaces between them. This publication is intended to help executives and senior business managers better understand the value of these best practices and how they should be aligned to provide the greatest value to their business. The management summary is supported by two appendices. The first of these lists the CobiT Control Objectives and shows which processes in ITIL and ISO 17799 support them; the second lists ITIL processes and indicates which CobiT objectives they are most closely aligned to.
